Greetings, fellow BTTPers!
If you're currently reading Ultimatum, things look dire for Marvel's Ultimate comics line!
At the recent New York convention, it has been revealed that we're in for a relaunching of the brand and a tightening of what books are in the lineup. It's an "end" of sorts, but also a new beginning for the Ultimate Universe, so it seems to me to be a good time for a review of what has happened since the birth of this comics imprint.

So, you're indestructible and your week isn't going well?
Time to mount your favorite two-wheeled symbol of rebelliousness and carve up the concrete! And we mean that literally.
For this demonstration of wanton and willful destruction of public property, Wolverine First Class #14 gets our nod as great cover of the week!

Before I review Flash: Rebirth, I'd like to take you on a journey...
It's no secret that I am the store's resident Flash fanatic. I have been since I was a kid. He inspired me to run track in high school, no kidding! I didn't learn until later in my collecting that The Flash may have been the character that saved comic books. Barry Allen's first appearance in Showcase #4 was the event that ignited the Silver Age in 1956 and brought comic book heroes back into the mainstream after nearly disappearing entirely. By the mid-60's Flash was outselling Batman!
It's been a tough gig being a Flash fan all of these years. It was pretty easy as a kid to be a fan, when Flash would fight a wacky rogue or team up to help the Super Friends each week. This Flash was Barry Allen. There wasn't much to him as a character. He was a police scientist and his personal life was kind of boring. The Barry I knew was given his powers by cosmic chance by way of a lightning bolt and some chemicals. He was prompted to use his new found powers for good because he was a decent guy. Other Super heroes even looked up to him. Batman once said, "Barry is the kind of man that I would've hoped to become if my parents hadn't been murdered". He didn't have the personal tragedy to motivate him like the Batman or Spider-Man. This may be what made Barry boring to some readers, but I always felt that what Barry lacked in personality, The Flash made up for with his fantastic exploits. Plus the pseudo-science that the writers used to pull his fat out of the fire each month made me come back for more. I never expected that my Flash was going to be a victim of DC politics.

The winds of change are in the air. For those of you who just enjoy reading comics and are not attached to your computer screen each night pouring over industry news, I have an announcement for you (as for the latter group who are aware of the news…stand by): Diamond Comics has announced that in these economically tough times they are being forced to make some changes.
Some of these changes will only affect the behind the scenes stuff that most of you are lucky enough to never have to see. It’s a world of intrigue and bloodshed…screaming matches with vendors, a sea of damaged and missing merchandise and a whole lot more. These changes will offer your crack comics team here at Back to the Past more exciting challenges for the year to come. The changes that you as the consumer will see, however, will be in the variety and type of material offered.

We're staying open late to hang out and enjoy some great music, and we invite you to join us!
Back to the Past Comics' After Hours party will feature the full-length uncut version of Johnny Cash Live at Folsom Prison, generally considered one of the greatest albums of all time. And, while we're twanging it out with Johnny, we'll have pizza and refreshments!
If great music and the world's most perfect food aren't enough for you, we'll also have some door prizes going for the duration of the concert:
1) A grand-prize collection of variant covers worth over $120.00! (Amongst the collection: Thor #1, Secret Invasion #2, Batman Cacophony #1 and more.)
2) 3 Runners-Up will receive $25.00 in floor-stock back issues!
(You do not need to be present to win. Drawing will follow immediately after the album concludes.)
Great company, great music, food and prizes. What's not to like?

As you've no doubt already heard us say over the counter at one time or another, the economic climate in Michigan is having its effect on comic books. Publishers are raising their prices to try and stay even with struggling circulation and rising costs. Customers like yourself are ever more discerning on their purchases, and fewer "so-so" titles are ending up in your checkout pile.
As we continue to refine our ordering numbers to meet changing demand, it becomes much more critical to use Diamond Previews to preorder small press comics you want to make sure you receive on new comics day. We're good with mainstream titles, and anything we consider "blockbuster" we always stock in depth; but there are *many* small press books of which we receive exactly ONE copy on new comics day. If you check such a book off on the weekly subscriber checklist, we're not going to have extras for you.
We want to make it as easy as possible for you to use Previews for small press titles, so, for the record, here's how:
